Words from the Wise
We, members of XUHS Class 67, in recognition and appreciation of the vital role that XUHS has played in shaping our lives, established this legacy, as our way of giving back, to enrich the lives of XUHS students and faculty.
We are proud to say that our legacy is the only one of its kind in the entire nation. For instead of giving
Scholarships and endowments like so many other alumni groups, we offer adventure, pulsating excitement and extraordinary once-in-a-lifetime experiences for deserving students and faculty.
These extraordinary adventures reflect the disparate things we are most passionate about in our lives:
our love for the great outdoors like mountain climbing, hiking, and camping; our love for books; and, most important, our abiding faith in the grace of God.
Behind it all is an inner drive towards self-discovery in the challenges we confront, be it the deep woods, the lofty mountains, or even the eastern mysticism of the snow leopard. it is rooted in our Socratic belief that ” the unexamined life, is not worth living”.
We hope that by sharing these adventures with the select students and faculty, they will learn something about themselves and the world at large.Grand and epic in scale, our adventures have pushed students to achieve things beyond their dreams, grappling with and subduing their inner fears in the process and summoning resources within themselves they never knew existed.
No less grand, epic and ambitious is the journey we will be embarking on, starting this Friday, March 30; a journey that will bring us to five countries in 20 days, encompassing two wonders of the world.
This Friday, our great adventure begins.
